November marks the five-year anniversary of Studio J®, and that means it’s your lucky month, with five amazing ways to win through Studio J and Close To My Heart social media!
First, throughout the month of November, all layouts purchased in Studio J are $5! That is a savings of over 25% off of retail—an unprecedented deal!
Your second chance to win big must come by sheer luck: every fifth order placed in Studio J during November receives a FREE surprise Close To My Heart accessory in its shipping box! The accessory has a retail value of $5 or more.
If luck doesn’t smile on you in that way, you might stumble upon it by finding a little extra something in your Studio J box. Five “golden tickets” will be sent out during the month of November with randomly selected Studio J print orders! This “golden ticket” is redeemable for one of Close To My Heart’s new D-ring albums* loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors™.
For a fourth way to win, simply create new, gorgeous layouts in Studio J, select your favorites, and then post pictures of them on Close To My Heart’s Facebook page using the hashtag #ctmhlucky5. After November 30, five lucky winners will be selected from the entries based on their artistry and creativity and each of these winners will receive their own D-ring album loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors!
And there is one last way to win: take your new Studio J artwork and post a picture of it on Instagram using the hashtag #ctmhlucky5. Just as it is with Facebook, after November 30, five lucky winners will be selected from the entries to receive their own D-ring album loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors!

Halloween Pencil Toppers

It's not Halloween yet, but I couldn't wait to play with my new Halloween stamp set to make these cute pencil toppers and I figured if I started now I would have all the pencil toppers done in time for my daughters school Halloween party.
I got the idea for these from the current Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations book. To create them I used the Scaredy Cat Paper Packet, Colonial White Paper, Frightfully Fun Stamp set, and CTMH Exclusive Ink colors Black, Sunset and Smokey Plumb. The shapes were cut from the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge. These were fun to make and I can't wait to get some fun Halloween pencils to attach them to.

Precious Baby Layout

Thanks for stopping by my Blog and checking the most recent post. I wanted to share my lastest layout. How many of us moms have items from the birth of our little ones and that just don't know what to do with, but you know you want to keep them?  I have this problem, so decided wanted to create a layout that I could save some of the little things from my son's birth (i.e. Crib Card, Hospital Bracelet and Birth Announcement from the newspaper) So after checking around pinterest for some inspiration, this is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it!

1. First thing I did was select 12x12  cardstock and pattern paper to make up the wall and the floors of the room. Since it was to be a boys room I went with greens, reds and browns.

2. I choose to use the solid 12x12 as my base and a striped pattern 12x12 paper for "Wallpaper". I cut cut it at 7 inches. I cut a 1/2 inch strip of another patterned paper to use as border between the wallpaper and the wall. The floor is cut at 1 inch from kraft card stock

3. Before gluing these pieces down. I used my CTMH ink and inked the edges of the papers to give it some dimension.  The colors are I used were Ruby, Desert Sand and Sweat Leaf.

4. I then glued those pieces down.

5. My next step was to create a Toy Box to store the items in. Using the George Cricut Cartridge I cut  2 rectangles that were 1/4 inch larger than the three items put together. So I could easily slide the items I wanted in the box.  Then decorate your toy box. I used Ruby ink to ink around the edges, a brad for the closer and i cut out the word Toy from the basic shape font pre-loaded on the Cricut Expression 2. Next only put glue on the very edges on the back of the bottom box. Then attached the top of the box (lid). After that is secured then slid your items into the box.

6. Now to create the closet. Simply cut a large rectangle shape out of whatever cardstock color you like. Then using the same kraft card stock, that was used to create the floor, cut strips measuring 1/2inch and trim the ends at an angle. Once all three pieces are cut. Use a sponge dauber to ink the pieces to look like wood and adhere to the rectangle.

7. Using the New Arrival Cricut Cartridge cut out as many oneies as you would like to hang in the closet. The ones i used were cut at 2 inches (I think I'll have to double check that) and then cut the hangers at the same size so they will fit inside the onesies. Cut a small piece of card stock to make the rack to hang the onesies on in the closet. Glue the rack in first and then attach the onsies.

8. Then final step I selected one of my favorite picture to hang on the wall and then glued all the pieces together.

I hope you feel inspired to create your own layouts now using those precious little things from your newborn.

Happy Paper Crafting!

Monday, August 4, 2014

As I write this blog post it's hard to believe that is August already, where has the summer gone? I don't know about you, but for us it's been a busy summer between T-ball, Swimming and a New Baby, there hasn't been much time for paper crafting.  With that said, I really wanted to start to dive into the new products from CTMH and I had a box of items that I had ordered, but had not had time to go through. So while everyone was asleep I started going through the box and planning what I wanted to work on...below is the result

Since it is August, that time of year when kids are getting ready to go back to school. I thought  would make a simple 12x12 layout using the new CTMH Chalkboard paper packet and the CTMH Artbooking cricut cartridge. All the pieces that were cut from this project came just from that paper packet. I used the CTMH Sanding Kit to distress the edges of the paper and the edges of "First Day" as well. I used slate ink to ink the white paper piece behind the "First Day" title.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the layout and check back next week when I will feature another project using the Chalkboard Paper Packet.

Happy Paper Crafting!

Teacher Gift Card Holder

Welcome to another adventure in paper crafting. Recently I was ask if I could create a gift card holder for a movie gift certificate, based on an idea. So... away I went to my crafting supplies to see what I could create. I pulled out the paper, circuit
cartridges, inks and glue and away I went. Below is what I came up with and I have added the measurements and items I used if you want to create the same project.

Instructions:
 1. Gift card Pocket: 1- 8 1/2 x 11 red cardstock.  Using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge I cut a 6 inch Card using the Tag5 image on page 70. When the image I cut there will be a flap that you will need to fold to the right to create the pocket. Glue the bottom and the left edge of the pocket and press down to make sure it's glued closed.

2. "Popcorn":  Cut  five 1" and 2" Flower5 on page 48 from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricuit Cartridge using white cardstock. I then inked the flowers with Crème Brulee Ink from CTMH. Glue the popcorn pieces on both the outside of the pocket and peaking out of the inside of the pocket. To give it a 3d effect layer the popcorn and us pop dots on the inside of the pocket.

3. "Thank You Ticket Stub"  Cut a 1" Rctangle4 found on page 25 from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricuit Cartridge using white cardstock. I then stamped the Thank You Image from the "Frames, Tags and Borders" stamp set that comes with the Art Philosophy Cartridge. The ink I used was CTMH Chocolate

4. "Star": Cut a 3" star found on page 67 of the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge out of yellow card stock

5. "Movie Strip": Cut 2" movie strip fround on page 67 of the CTMH Artiste Cricuit Cartridge out of black card stock.

Once all pieces are cut assemble them as shown below and you have your very own Movie Gift Card Pocket to give to a friend, teacher or whomever on your gift list!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I am posting a simple Birthday card that you can make. This card was made using the Ivy Lane Paper packet from CTMH. If you have any questions, please leave a post below. I have given the measurements of each piece.

1. Using Ivy Lane Green cardstock cut a top folding card measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/5.

2. Using a corner rounder round all four corners of the card base and then ink the card using the Pear Exclusive Ink from CTM

3. Cut 2 pieces of the Hollyhock cardstock found in the paper packet. The first piece measures 3 3/4 x 2 1/4. The second piece measures 2 1/4 x 1 1/4.  Once the pieces are cut ink the edges with Hollyhock Exclusive Inks from CTMH.

4. Cut 2 pieces of the B&T Duo paper. The first piece measures 3 1/2 x 2 and the second piece measures 2 x 1. Ink the purple pieces with Smokey Plum Exclusive Ink from CTMH and then adhere to the Hollyhock cardstock.

5. To complete the outside of the card, adhere the hollyhock card stock to the base of your card leaving a space between to add your birthday sentiment. The Happy Birthday that you see here is from the CTMH Teddy Bear Birthday Jeanette's Archive Stamp set. I also added a big of bling to the left side of the card shown below.
6. The inside of card is completed by using the Bamboo Card stock found in the paper packet. It measures 4 x 5 1/4 and the edges were inked and the birthday presents (also from the same stamp set as the sentiment) used Smokey Plum Ink. Adhere the bamboo card stock to the green cardstock.

Below are links to the products that I used to created this card. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Happy Paper Crafting!!!!
